Officials with Ascena Retail Group - which owns Ann Taylor, Dress Barn, Loft, Lane Bryant, Justice, Maurices and Catherines - announced that as many as 650 locations will be closed down in the next two years as the company pivots its business offerings.

No less than 250 locations will be closed, officials said, with another 400 in danger unless the company can negotiate lower rents at the locations.

Ascena isn’t the only retailer to feel the heat of the digital revolution. Earlier this year, officials with GameStop, JCPenney, Sears and Macy’s announced that it will be closing stores and cutting thousands of jobs.

Hudson Valley municipalities with one or more of the stores include:

  • Greenburgh
  • Mount Pleasant
  • Nanuet
  • Nelsonville
  • Pelham
  • Pelham Manor
  • Port Chester
  • Poughkeepsie
  • Scarsdale
