GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Westchester area pets will have a new group of doctors to choose from at the Banfield Pet Hospital in Greenburgh, which opens Saturday, Aug. 23.
Self-described as the "world’s largest veterinary practice," Banfield, which is at 369 Tarrytown Road, is teaming with PetSmart to host the grand opening with refreshments and activities including contests, giveaways, “Ask-the-Vet” sessions and hospital tours.
“We look forward to assisting local pet owners in the Greenburgh area by providing quality veterinary care for their pets,” said Dr. Julia Persaud, associate veterinarian at the hospital. “Our focus is to offer preventive care services for pets and establish personal relationships with pet owners to ensure pets receive the best care possible.”
To further commemorate the grand opening and give back to the loyal pet community, Banfield will donate 20 percent of opening weekend revenue to the nonprofit organization, Posh Pets Rescue.
The new pet hospital offers preventive care services that include annual examinations, nutrition counseling, prescriptions and surgery. Pet owners are encouraged to meet the local veterinarians and sign-up for a Banfield Optimum Wellness Plan, a comprehensive package of veterinary services that provides pet owners in Greenburgh with year-round preventive care.
"We're very pleased to welcome Banfield Pet Hospital to Greenburgh," Town Supervisor Paul Feiner said. "Greenburgh is a very pet friendly community. When our pets are healthy they can enjoy our dog park, annual dog swim. Unfortunately, dogs and pets (like humans) sometimes get sick. Pet hospitals like Banfield will help Greenburgh pets enjoy the pet friendly programs the town offers."
According to a statement from Banfield, the group "recognizes that pets age more quickly than people, making it extremely important that they receive veterinary care at least twice-a-year to remain healthy and allow for early diagnosis of potential medical problems."
Banfield Pet Hospital will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Drop-off hours begin at 7 a.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday.
