Beginning this week, the co-owners of Bull & Barrel Brewery in Brewster took their first step toward mass production as they began the process of canning their beer for distribution, starting with their signature flavor, Honey Blueberry.

Bull & Barrel’s Honey Blueberry flavor has been a popular one amongst local drinkers, earning a gold medal for best beer in the Hudson Valley and a silver medal in all of New York State. Co-owners Wendy Wulkan and Rick Cipriani described the beer is a wheat ale made with natural white honey and a high-grade blueberry puree.

Wulkan said that she and Cipriani’s background give them a unique edge that has helped set their brewery apart and elevate its stature in the region in just four years.

“Rick has (more than) 20 years of experience in the beer and beverage wholesale industry, and I bring experience in bar and restaurant ownership,” she noted. “Together, we brought our talents to Brewster and have now made it a destination location for Putnam County, as well as being the first and only brewery in the country.

Bull & Barrel’s Honey Blueberry beer is now available in cans at local Putnam County stores. It is expected to roll out further in the coming months.
