A Dannon spokesman confirmed the company was exploring the move, but that nothing had been finalized, said lohud.com.
Currently, the company corporate headquarters, at 100 Underhill Ave. in Greenburgh, has more than 300 employees. If they make the move to White Plains, the company would lease approximately 80,000 square feet of the four-story building located at 1 Maple Ave., added lohud.com.
The former department store used to occupy the top three floors until it closed in 2009. The building also houses a Whole Foods market and Cheesecake Factory restaurant, in addition to others, said lohud.com.
White Plains is supporting the move and is in favor of the zoning change needed for a food laboratory, White Plains Mayor Tom Roach told lohud.com.
Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner, who told lohud.com on Tuesday that he wasn't aware of the company's intentions to move, said he would try to get them to stay.
