If you're scrambling for some last-minute Christmas shopping and don't know what to buy your children, Reid is the person to ask at Kmart, 399 Tarrytown Road. Some of the popular toys on kids' Christmas lists seem to be Furby dolls and Ninja Turtles action figures, Reid said, adding he was surprised they have returned as hot items in 2012.
Another nearly sold-out item is the LeapPad 2, a children's learning tablet with interactive educational games.
"The LeapPad is huge, huge this year," Reid said.
Shopping for your daughter or niece? Reid said you can go with the classic Barbie, which still hasn't gone out of style for young girls.
"Barbie is a hit every year. It's just a classic gift that every little girl wants," he said.
Monster High dolls have also gained a large following, he added.
For boys, you can't go wrong with a Lego set. The most popular Lego set this year is the "Ninjago" Legos, Reid said. Also very popular is Angry Birds merchandise, which includes Angry Birds plush animals, board games and video games.
The Angry Birds video game is a top-seller at GameStop, which has two Greenburgh store locations: one right next to Kmart in the Crossroads Shopping Center, the other at 421 N. Central Ave. in Hartsdale.
GameStop's must-have games include Skylanders Giants, FIFA 13, Dance Central 3 and LEGO Lord of the Rings, said Wendy Dominguez, GameStop's corporate communications manager.
If you're splurging, Dominguez recommends the Wii U Starter Bundle for kids and young teens. The Wii U is Nintendo's new handheld gaming console that allows users to connect with their friends online to play and video chat.
