“It took a team effort to get it open yesterday,” General Manager Steve Alli said Saturday.

Dobbs Ferry businesses are getting back to normal after Hurricane Sandy damaged the area with flooding and power outages.

Alli said they tried to survey the Half Moon restaurant's damage the day after Sandy, but found police had blocked off the area. When they were able to get to the business, they found the restaurant had been flooded with three to four feet of water. The ovens were lost, refrigerators had lost power, outside gas containers were gone and the outside bar had floated down the river.

Alli and the rest of the staff gathered to start cleaning.

“We all got together here Tuesday night and started getting the water and mud out of the restaurant,” he said.

The restaurant's bar opened last week, Alli said, but it wasn't until Friday that things were back to normal.

“The regular customers were coming down yesterday,” he said. “It's great to be open.”
