Putting Pedal to Metal: New Electric Bike Store Opens In Westchester

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Bicycling uphill just got a lot easier, thanks to the addition of Sleek eBikes, a new electric bike store in Tarrytown.

According to Owner Edward Busk, a longtime bike rider, Sleek eBikes allows riders to fly effortlessly uphill as well as helps tremendously with traveling long distances. 

"You can arrive arriving at your destination refreshed and glowing with health–rather than sweaty and exhausted like on a conventional bike," explained the Dobbs Ferry resident.

 "Plus, you can beat everyone else there if you wish."

The bikes are totally silent and have ranges up to 100 miles on a single charge. They also offer electrical assist up to 20 mph only. As such, they do not require registration, a license, or insurance, and are treated as ordinary bicycles.

In fact, he said, that with an ebike in the family, many households find they don’t need that second (or third) car.

The shop, which opened in June, sells a wide range of stylish and modern machinery alongside super high-end saddles, locks and helmets.

Sleek also has a full workshop for all mechanical and service needs and in the coming months, will offer ebike rentals by the hour, half-day or day.
