Elmsford's Westchester Broadway Theatre Stages 'Godspell'

ELMSFORD, N.Y. -- The Westchester Broadway Theatre in Elmsford will present the musical "Godspell" from July 9 to Sept. 9.

This rock opera is based on the Gospel According to St Matthew. It focuses on the last days of Jesus and includes dramatized versions of several well-known parables. The show opened Off-Broadway on May 17, 1971, and has played in various touring companies and revivals many times since. "Godspell" opened on Broadway in 1976.

Gilbert D. Sanchez plays the role of Jesus, and Xander Chauncey portrays Judas. John Fanelli is the director, musical direction will be by Bill Stanley, and choreography will be by Jonathan Stahl.
