Global 'Make Music Day' Comes To Ossining

OSSINING, N.Y. – Mike Risko Music will bring Make Music Day on Tuesday, June 21 to the Ossining-Briarcliff area, the first and only communities in Westchester to participate in Make Music Day, an internationally-recognized annual celebration of music featuring a full day of free, live musical performances and workshops.

These two Westchester communities will join more than 700 cities around the globe in this international celebration of song, which takes place annually on the longest day of the year, the summer solstice. A special “preschool graduation” event performance for the children at the Sunshine Children’s Home will begin the celebration the day prior, on Monday, June 20 featuring Mike and Miriam Risko playing their music for the preschool graduates who reside at this Ossining residential pediatric care facility for medically-fragile infants and children. 

“Our goal is to build up Westchester with the spirit of music and to bring music into the lives of all who live here,” says owner Mike Risko. The following are the list of events for Make Music Day that starts with a Preview Day Saturday, June 18 at the Ossining Farmer’s Market. 

  • Saturday, June 18 at the Ossining Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to noon. Live music Mike Risko Music School students and Mike and Miriam Risko. 
  • Make Music Day 2016 - Full Event Schedule: 
    • 9:15 to 10 a.m.: Club Fit, 584 North State Rd., Briarcliff, Spin to Live Pop and Rock Music with the Mike Risko Band 
    • 12 to 1:30 p.m.: Wobble Cafe, 21 Campwoods Rd., Ossining, Live Music with Marcus Roman 
    • 12 to 2 p.m.: Club Fit, 584 North State Rd., Briarcliff, Blues and Standards with Phil Dollard 
    • 12 to 2 p.m.: Village Hall, 16 Croton Ave., Ossining, Folk Music with Jake and Jules
    • 2 to 3:30 p.m.: Gyro Uno Truck at the Briarcliff Manor Village Pool, 1031 Pleasantville Rd., Briarcliff, Live Music with Steve Goodstein
    • 3 to 5 p.m.: Mike Risko Music, 144 Croton Ave., Ossining: Instrument Fair for Kids 
    • 3:30 to 5 p.m.: Shine Salon, 161 Main St., Ossining: Live Music with Singer/Songwriter Joe Adami 
    • 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.: Six Degrees of Separation, 35 Main Street, Ossining: Rock and Roll with Robert Stava 
    • 6:30 to 8 p.m.: Hot Societe, 175 Main St., Ossining: Jazz, Latin and Standards with Martin & Richard 
    • 7 to 8 p.m.: The Boathouse, 46 Westerly Rd., Ossining: Live Music with All My Friends 
    • 7 to 8 p.m.: Giant Group Guitar Lesson, 144 Croton Ave., Ossining: With Mike Risko Music
