According to library spokesperson Nancy McCrory, librarians Diana Lennon and Sandra Hile have led this project to fruition with the support of several individuals and many organizations in the community.

"(The volunteers) planted the flowers, donated materials and gave financial support," McCrory said in a press release. "Future library events will be held in the garden including a tai-chi program and kids participating in "Sandy's Silly Science"  programs, allowing young library visitors a chance to work on plant projects in our raised flower beds."

This garden will be dedicated to Ellen Hershey, who spent more than 20 years as a highly dedicated and beloved professional at the Greenburgh Public Library.  Hershey passed away on Aug. 2, 2013.
