Hartsdale Native, Author Andrew Novo To Be Honored In Greenburgh

GREENBURGH, N.Y. – Author, historian and Hartsdale native Andrew Novo will be honored at the Greenburgh Town Hall on Friday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Novo, who graduated from Greenburgh Central Schools before obtaining degrees at Princeton University and The University of Oxford, will discuss his development as an author and a historian. A meet-and-greet with refreshments and a novel-signing will follow the presentation, according to a press release.

Novo’s writing career can be traced back to age eight, when he wrote “The Senator and the Servant,” a one-act play studying the strict class divisions in Ancient Rome. That play was published by Scholastic Magazine.

Novo also wrote “When Small Countries Crash,” which details financial crisis in small economies and “Queen of Cities,” a novel about the fall of Constantinople. His articles have been published by Asia Times and Middle East International Magazine.

Novo holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Princeton University, a graduate degree in modern history and another in international relations from the University of Oxford, and a double honors diploma in violin and piano from the Music Conservatory of Westchester.

While at The University of Oxford, Novo served as research assistant in the Southeast European Studies program of St. Antony’s College. He analyzed articles and government reports dealing with the European Union enlargement and the Turkey accession talks. In addition to hosting a visit by the prime minister of Turkey, Novo organized conferences and seminars on international relations and the European Union.

Novo has lectured at Georgetown University and The United States Military Academy at West Point. He is currently the assistant professor of strategic studies at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C.
