Hogan, who has owned a home in Fairfield, turns 75 on Wednesday. Hogan was born Oct. 8, 1939, in Lightning Ridge, New South Wales, Australia.

He is a comedian and actor who rose to prominence in Australia during the early 1970s after an interview on "A Current Affair" and followed it with his own comedy sketch program "The Paul Hogan Show," which he produced, wrote and played characters. The show ran for 60 episodes between 1973 and 1984.

He was named Australian of the Year in 1985 and received the award Member of the Order of Australia (AM) "For service to tourism and entertainment" in 1986.

He is best known for his role as Michael J."Crocodile" Dundee in "Crocodile Dundee," for which he won a Golden Globe award for his performance, and subsequent films featuring the character, which made him popular in the United States.

He also appeared in various films like "Anzacs," "Almost an Angel," "Charlie & Boots" and "Adam Hills Tonight."
