The vehicle turned up today in the Rock Creek Terrace housing development — a scene of shootings, drug activity and other crime — after the carjacking report was filed with police around midnight Saturday, Detective Capt. Timothy Torell told CLIFFVIEW PILOT tonight.

The Range Rover Sport HSE, equipped with the “Supercharged Package,” ws taken by at least three armed assailants on Cross Street, in the city’s 3rd Ward, the purported victims told police.

The two said “an acquaintance of one of the men” lured them there, although they didn’t explain, Torell said.

In addition to taking the vehicle at gunpoint, they said, one of them was forced to surrender a $10,000 Rolex, a wallet and other personal items.

They said the robbers then made them “lay down in the street and count to a certain number before getting up,” Torell said.

“We have some significant leads in this case that we are aggressively tracking down, including some video evidence,” the captain said. “These are 1st-degree offenses that expose victims and the general public to danger.”
