"Basically everything is a landscape, a floral or something where growth is a part of it," said Morrill, who is retiring in June after teaching at the Radburn and Forest schools for 28 years.

One work in particular, called "Mirror Clear," was inspired by a scene from the Fair Lawn Nature Center, Morrill said.

A former textile designer, Morrill says she takes "lots and lots" of photographs and "combines them in my own way."

Most of her work is oil-painted, but there are several that were water-colored, she said. The latest is a painting of an alstroemeria flower -- with her own interpretations. "It's poetic license," Morrill said.

By her estimates, Morrill has taught thousands of students. She hopes she's made a difference.

"That's the idea of being a teacher – to inspire," she said.

The exhibit runs through April.
