Commuters can expect canceled and combined trains for the commute, with Metro-North warning about continued lengthy delays, crowded conditions and station changes for the rest of the day.

The brunt of the delays are expected on Fairfield County stations on the New Haven Line.

Regular service will be offered on the New Haven Line in Connecticut — but there will be changes because of damaged overhead wires in the vicinity of Cos Cob, Metro-North said.

"There will be some train cancellations and combinations, as well as anticipated delays of 30 to 60 minutes and crowded conditions," Metro-North said.

Eastbound trains bound to New Haven will not stop at Cos Cob, Riverside or Old Greenwich, Metro-North said. "Customers should take the train to Stamford, where they can switch for westbound service to these stations," Metro-North said.

Direct trains to New Canaan from Grand Central will not operate, Metro-North said. Customers should travel to Stamford and transfer there for service to New Canaan.

For the entire afternoon, riders on the New Haven Line have been experiencing delays of 60 to 90 minutes due to wire damage and a train with mechanical difficulties in the vicinity of Cos Cob, Metro-North said. The problems began just before noon Thursday.
