As “the most ambitious downtown redevelopment in New Rochelle history continues,” officials announced the second project, which would see the construction of two 28-story properties in the “heart of the city’s burgeoning downtown.”

RXR announced plans to construct two new 28-story towers at the site of the Church-Division parking garage, which would place it within walking distance of the Main Street development. The towers are expected to include as many as 700 apartment units, with 40,000-square-feet of retail space at the base of the buildings.

According to officials, the master developers are expected to seek site plan approval for the project later this year, and are expected to break ground on the first project tower next year.

“These new buildings, which will bring more high quality residential and commercial space to New Rochelle’s downtown area are exciting additions to our overall redevelopment,” New Rochelle City Manager Chuck Strome III stated. “RXR is a committed partner, who not only remains fully invested in New Rochelle’s future, but is helping us realize the impact of the city’s ambitious downtown vision.”

“With this announcement - the most significant since the adoption of our ambitious downtown development plan - New Rochelle’s revitalization efforts kick into high gear,” New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson added.

“RXR’s new project brings us a huge step closer to achieving our shared vision for a thriving, diverse city center, and will set the stage for further private investment in our local economy. I congratulate the RXR team and look forward to making this exciting vision a reality."
