The incident took place in New Cassel around 12:20 a.m., Monday, Jan. 29 in the area of Oliver and Elton streets.
According to Nassau County Police, officers located a 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg.
Officers applied a tourniquet and the victim was transported to a hospital for treatment.
No other injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
