As director of athletics, O’Donnell oversees one of Westchester County’s premier high school athletic programs. Stepinac, an all-boys school of nearly 700 students, offers sports programs that include football, baseball, basketball, bowling, golf, hockey, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, tennis, cross county/track & field and wrestling.
O’Donnell has been head football coach at Stepinac for 24 years, a position that has brought success and wide recognition to the school. Teams he has coached have won numerous Catholic High School Football League (CHSFL) Division Championships and CHSFL AA Championships.
O’Donnell has been inducted into the Stepinac Hall of Fame and the CHSAA Hall of Fame, and won the Archbishop Stepinac Board of Trustees award in 2010. “Aside from his athletic accomplishments, Coach O’Donnell has been an integral part of the success at Stepinac and the greater Westchester community,” said Stepinac President Father Thomas Collins. “We congratulate him for this latest recognition by the Salvation Army.” O’Donnell resides in White Plains with his wife, Carla. They have three children, Margaret who is 25, Conor who is 23 and Liam who is 18. The 26th Annual Community Service Awards Breakfast will take place in the Grand Ballroom at the Crowne Plaza, located at 66 Hale Avenue, White Plains.
