The victim was approached by two men the night of March 13 and ordered to empty his pockets, Police Chief Michael J. Colaneri said.

After going through his things and taking some items, the assailants beat the victim, sending him to Hackensack
University Medical Center with various injuries, the chief said.

His detectives investigated and quickly identified two men, including 20-year-old Mario Querubin of Bogota.

Querebin resisted when police arrested him at his home on Wednesday, injuring one of the officers and threatening to kill them and the victim, Colaneri said.

In addition to first-degree robbery, aggravated assault, theftQuerubin also was charged with resisting arrest and making terroristic threats. He was being held on $250,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail.

He was joined last night by Astrit Kupi, also 20, of Palisades Park, who turned himself in to police — accompanied by his attorney — after they contacted his father.

Kupi also was being held on $250,000 bail, charged with robbery, aggravated assault and theft.

Colaneri thanked Police Chiefs John Burke of Bogota and Benjamin Ramos of Palisades Park for their help in the investigation and arrests.
