LARCHMONT, N.Y. Paulene Greeman's face lights up when a child she knows walks into one of her themed children's programs at public and private events around Westchester County.
Greeman of Larchmont said she loves to work with kids. She taught at the Larchmont Avenue Church School, which both of her two children attended, for the better part of a decade. However, six years ago, she decided to start her own party planning business, Paulene's Parties, and a series of children's programs, Creative Movement and Stories in Motion.
"I've always had a lot of energy and a lot of imagination," said Greeman, who received her masters in early childhood elementary and special education. "There's nothing like when you walk in a room and have kids know who you are."
The only drawback, Greeman said, is that she doesn't get to know as many of the kids who attend her programs as well as those she taught at the Larchmont Avenue Church.
Greeman has begun to focus more on her Creative Movement and Stories in Motion programs, which she does at schools and libraries in Larchmont, Mamaroneck, Armonk, Chappaqua, Greenwich and other locations throughout Westchester. Each program has a different theme. Recently, Greeman held a program at the Larchmont Library titled "Leap into Leap Day with Paulene Greeman." Other themes include: dinosaurs, butterflies, cars, bop til you drop, bean bags and balancing, games and races, seasonal, holiday and more.
She offers programs September through May. During the summers, Greeman said, she likes to recharge her battery and imagine new themes for her programs.
