The concert, featuring Grammy-award winning jazz vocalist Melissa Walker, begins at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at Irvington Town Hall Theater. Walker will pay tribute to the music of the late singer/songwriters Abbey Lincoln and Nina Simone, accompanied by pianist Oscar Perez and an ensemble of outstanding jazz musicians.

"It promises to be an evening of extraordinarily soulful music," says Dr. Bruce Heckman, jazz aficionado and medical director of the Phelps Hospice program. "This intimate theater is the perfect setting for the music of two women who created and performed music of such intense feeling and individual musicality."

Walker has performed at the Kennedy Center Women in Jazz Festival, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Joe's Pub and The Jazz Standard in Manhattan. She has opened for the legendary Ray Charles and performed with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra led by Wynton Marsalis at the Duke Ellington Centennial Celebration.

All proceeds from the Spirit of Jazz concert support Phelps Hospice, a program of Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow that provides professional, compassionate end-of-life services to patients and their families, according to a press release. Care is most often provided in the comfort of the patient's home. Phelps Hospice, established in 1983, is the oldest hospice program in Westchester.

Concert tickets at $25 each are available online at the Irvington Town Hall website or at the box office at 914-591-6602.
