Fifteen cars had menorahs mounted on the top of the car and drove throughout the city with a Yonkers Police escort.

The cars were lined up in the parking lot at Yonkers City Hall. The parade route started at Yonkers City Hall and drove up Nepperhan Avenue to Yonkers Avenue to Midland Avenue, down Central Park Avenue, made a turn on Central Avenue and drove on Tuckahoe Road and down Saw Mill River Road to the destination of Nahmias Et Fils Distillery located at 201 Saw Mill River Road in Yonkers.

David, Jason and Gabbi Schwartz, who live in Edgemont, came to this event because they have never seen anything like it before.

"It was interesting," David Schwartz said. "The police escort was great. The Yonkers Police did a great job. The parade route was fantastic, we drove from South Broadway to Colonial Heights. "

Chuck Lesnick, former Yonkers City Council president, joined the menorah car parade.

"This is a great festive occasion and its great to display our pride throughout the City of Yonkers," he said. "People were very supportive and the route that we drove gave us maximum exposure. It's great when people of all faiths come together and the community of Yonkers embraces it all."

Nicole, Jared and Jae Keller, all Yonkers residents, agreed that it was entertaining and that they all had fun.

"This is a nice way for people to celebrate our holiday," said Nicole Keller, who is a teacher in the Yonkers Public School System. "I had no idea which route we were going to take and it just was so much fun."

Once the cars pulled into their destination at Nahmias Et Fils Distillery, everyone gathered around the menorah that was made from bottles from the Et Fils Distillery, and was lit for the second night of Hanukkah. Everyone was treated to pizza and donuts to celebrate the second night of Hanukkah.

Nahmias Et Fils Distillery, owners David and Dorit Nahmias, were pleased with the turnout for this event for Hanukkah.

Rabbi Mendy Hurwitz was also happy with the turnout. When asked if this will become an annual event, he said, "I will definitely consider making this an annual event. The Yonkers Police Department did a phenomenal job."
