MOHEGAN LAKE, N.Y. — Augie’s Prime Cut will host its fifth annual fundraiser for Autism Speaks from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at Captain Lawrence Brewery in Elmsford.

For the second year in a row, proceeds also will support a local organization, Community Based Services Inc.

The event will feature live music, brewery tours, a silent auction and more, according to a press release. Last year’s event raised more than $45,000 for Autism Speaks and CBS, and Augie’s has raised more than $400,000 for the cause to date, according to a press release.

Augie’s owners Audrey Hochroth and Sal Barone organize the event each year to recognize their daughter, Niki, who was diagnosed with autism at a young age. While they have provided special care for Niki, now 24, throughout the years, her emergence into adulthood has highlighted the additional care and support that comes with age, according to a press release. For that reason, a portion of the money raised will benefit CBS, the organization that provides a home and care for their daughter.

CBS is a not-for-profit dedicated to providing people with autism and other developmental disabilities the best possible quality of life through residential and community-based opportunities in Westchester, including employment and day programs, according to a press release.

“Autism prevalence has skyrocketed so while we take this opportunity to give back, we also want to raise awareness for those individuals, children and adults alike, who are an equally important part of this community,” said Audrey Hochroth in a press release. “We are always humbled by the support from our neighboring business and loyal customers and look forward to making this year another fruitful, and fun, event at the brewery.”

Augie’s also is accepting items for the silent auction, ads for the journal and other sponsorships. All donations are charitable contributions and are tax deductible.
