GREENBURGH, N.Y. – A Tarrytown woman is taking her tasty creations from the cafeteria to show biz.

Alexandra Sampaio, the former head chef of the Bedford Central School District, has been named the executive chef at the Westchester Broadway Theatre in Elmsford.

The 10-year kitchen veteran said she is hoping to add a new taste to the theater.

“I’m looking forward to the years to come, as I bring a new twist and my own special flair to the WBT,” she said in a press release.

A graduate of The Art Institute of New York, Sampaio has also been executive chef at a Valhalla restaurant and a caterer and event planner.

Sampaio said she knew from a young age that the kitchen was where her heart was, inspired by both her father and uncle, who were chefs.

“I enjoy the atmosphere of being in the kitchen, the excitement, the timing and the teamwork involved in preparing and serving the dishes in a timely fashion,” she said.

And every chef has a specialty. Sampaio, an avid angler, loves to cook what she catches.

Her favorite type of sea creature to serve: bacalao. Theater guests will also have a chance to be served salmon Wellington over ratatouille, monkfish with red pepper basil sauce and boneless trout almondine.

But Sampaio said fish won’t be the only thing on the menu. A number of her other signature dishes, from pretzel pork chops to veal to eggplant, will be up for order.
