ELMSFORD, N.Y. - Captain Lawrence Brewery will mark one year of charity concerts at its Elmsford venue Thursday when rock-blues guitarist Matt O'Ree Band performs to benefit the Traveling Guitar Foundation.
O'Ree, the winner of Guitarmageddon “King of the Blues” guitar contest (2006) hosted by BB King and John Mayer through Guitar Center and Guitar World Magazine, will headline the show that begins at 7 p.m.
Chris Bro, a Maryland radio show host and Westchester resident, is promoting the concert through his All Things Next company.
"(O'Ree) is the perfect performer for the Brewery venue," Bro said. "He is a dedicated artist who lives to play and the audience will love him. We've had a lot of great success working with Captain Lawrence in these music series. The Traveling Guitar Foundation does great work, so this is a community event."
The Traveling Guitar Foundation is a non-profit that donates equipment for students across the country to learn guitar and other musical instruments.
The music at Captain Lawrence begins 7 p.m. with the Kristina Koller Band, followed by Jessica Antonette and then the Matt O’Ree Band at approximately 8:30 p.m.. Tickets can be purchased for $10 at the event website. TGF has donated hundreds of new guitars, amps, cables and an eight-week guitar curriculum to over 100 schools across the United States as well as a recent USO Tour in Germany for the troops.
Captain Lawrence Brewery is located at 444 Saw Mill River Road in Elmsford.
