GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Sudden cardiac arrest has long been a cause of death for older members of the population, but studies show heart failure is also the leading cause of sudden death in young people as well.

It is estimated that cardiac arrests claim the lives of 5,700 to 14,000 children per year. Parent Heart Watch serves as the national voice in protecting youth from sudden cardiac arrest.

In an effort to raise awareness, three members of the PHW Board of Directors will be interviewed by Greenburgh Town Supervisor, Paul Feiner on WVOX 1460-AM radio on Friday, Feb. 26 at 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.. The program is also streamed live here . Following the interview, a noon press conference will be held at Greenburgh Town Hall at 177 Hillside Ave. in White Plains.

The panel will feature Karen Acompora, who lost her 14 year old son Louis to sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in 2000; Melinda Murray, who lost her 17 year old son Dominic when he suffered SCA during a basketball game at Farmingdale State College; and Steve Tannenbaum, who survived sudden cardiac arrest in 2009 due to the preparedness of two strangers.
