The April 26 event brought the community together with top local eateries with state Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins honoring the Greenburgh Central School District’s best.
More than 500 people attended the event hosted by the Woodlands Falcons Nest Booster Club and Woodlands Middle and High School Parent Teacher Associations as restaurants, caterers and businesses filled both gymnasiums at the Woodlands Middle/High School at Hartsdale.
Bragging rights for the Best of Categories go to Frank’s Food Court for Best Chili, Trader Joe's Grocery Market for Best Dessert, Roaster Pepper’s Restaurant & Caterer’s for Best Ribs and Candlelight Inn for best Wings.
The competition in each category was formidable as the following establishments participated in the event: Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza, Bellesweets, Braza Roja Charcoal Rotisserie, D&A Smokehouse, Delish Dishes Catering, LLC., Hurricane Grill & Wings, Jake’s Wayback Burgers, Planet Wings, Rita’s of Elmsford, Roasted Peppers Restaurant & Catering, Rudy’s Food, Sun Splash Caribbean Bakery & Restaurant and The Perfect Flame.
Stewart-Cousins and News 12 reporter Grace Noone helped honor Greenburgh Central School District staff members for their service and commitment. This year’s honorees included: Denise Acham-Taylor, Highview Elementary School, Joanne Iamonico, and Rosemary Kamholz, Lee F. Jackson Elementary School, Barbara Pridgen, Woodlands High School, Helena Sayles, Richard J. Bailey School, and Mark Worthy, Woodlands Middle School.
Special thanks were expressed to major sponsors TD Bank, Party Line Tent Rental, Dr. Keith O. and professor Barbara E. Roper, and Royal Coach Lines Inc., which took a leadership role in making the event a success.
The on-site business participants playing an integral role in the event’s success included Avon, David Learner Associates, Inc., Doctor’s Express, Game On 356 Sports LLC, G.O.O.D. for Girls Inc./The Ambitious Soul, Lula Pearl, New York Life Insurance Co., Party Line Tent Rentals, People’s United Bank, Roasted Peppers Restaurant & Catering, TD Bank, T-Mobile, Wells Fargo and Women In the Black, rounding out the 29 on-site participants.
The net proceeds will be allocated as follows, 20 percent (a minimum of $1,200) to FNBC Student-Athlete Scholarships and another 20 percent (a minimum of $1,200) will to the Woodlands Middle & High School PTSA’s.
Both the Friends of the Greenburgh Library and the Shirley Schwarz Memorial Fund at the Lois Bronz Children’s Center will each receive 5 percent (or a minimum of $500). The balance will go to the operating fund of Falcons Nest Booster Club. Look for a video about the event on the Greenburgh Central School District website.
