GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Greenburgh's Theodore D. Young Community Center will begin installing a new solar-heating system for its indoor pool on Thursday.
The town received a $169,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to install the solar-heating system along with a grant of $56,250 from the Lanza Family Foundation for this green initiative.
The installation of the solar hot water system will take about two weeks.
The center provides aquatics program activities and services for the town's youth, elderly and disabled residents.
New LED gym lights were installed at the recently renovated gymnasium floor at the center last week as part of the town's Green Initiative.
