Bonding under the name of Hope Walks in Pink, the trio is training and recruiting donors for their effort, with three months to reach their goal.

"We would like to reach out to our local communities to help support in our efforts to raise not only money, but awareness of this life-altering disease," Cancro said. "This whole concept is new to us, but we thought we could reach out to the public to help publicize our cause."

Hope Walks in Pink will join thousands of women and men in raising funds and awareness to defeat breast cancer and support those facing the disease.  Cancro, Patrocinio and Cabreja will participate in the non-competitive event. Each walker will complete a marathon (26.2 miles) or a marathon and a half (39.3 miles) over the weekend of Oct. 18-19.

Hope Walks in Pink has set a fundraising goal of $5,400. To support their fundraising campaign, donations can be sent to the team's contribution page.

“Every year, thanks to thousands of participants like Hope Walks in Pink, we are able to save lives by providing significant funds for vital breast cancer research as well as access to care, screening, support services and education,” said Carol Kurzig, president of the Avon Foundation for Women, the public charity that produces the events.

“For the past decade, tens of thousands of dedicated women and men took personal action to help others through the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. We are truly inspired by our participants’ passion and enthusiasm.”

Cancro and her team say Hope Walks in Pink was inspired to take part in the Avon Walk New York because, "We all know that there's strength in numbers, so it’s with great strength that we’ll work and walk toward putting an end to the suffering caused by breast cancer. We each have our reasons for participating - - whether it’s a personal fight with breast cancer, the struggle or loss of a loved one, or a deep commitment to the cause."
