GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- For some, a lost or damaged phone can trigger a stream of emotions. Fear, cold sweats, anxiety and disconnect can run rampant in the minutes and days following the loss of a cell phone. For Hastings High School student Janey Litvin, experiencing those feeling after breaking her iPhone were enough.

After experiencing these uniquely 21st century waves of emotions after breaking her iPhone, the Hastings junior undertook the seemingly impossible: giving up her iPhone. She recently shared her story with Seventeen Magazine.

"Janey Litvin is an amazing young girl who did something recently that many teens probably think is impossible," said Town Supervisor Paul Feiner.

Litvin is an editor for the school's paper as well as a board member of Project Share, a service organization dedicated to helping the homeless. Additionally, she is a member of the school's Varsity Cross Country team and Track team and Girls Varsity Basketball team.
