HARTSDALE, N.Y. — Two new restaurants are adding an ethnic flavor to Hartsdale's many food places along Central Park Avenue.
So Kong Dong Tofu is set to open by the end of March in the Dalewood Shopping Center on Central Park Avenue. The tofu place will be the third for owner Peter Won, who has two tofu restaurants in Manhattan and Purchase.
Won said his dishes will stand out in the area because they have authentic flavors and pure ingredients.
"This is authentic Korean using organic soybeans," Won said. "That's what makes it unique."
The location, formerly occupied by By the Yard Fabric in Dalewood Shopping Center, was also ideal, especially since it sits right next to H-Mart, an asian grocery, Won said.
The soon-to-be restaurant follows the recent opening of Saigonese, a restaurant that opened Feb. 5 on 158 S. Central Park Ave. and replaced Tuscany Red Barn Pizza, that serves authentic Vietnamese cuisine.
Specialties on the Saigonese menu include summer rolls, steamed rice crepes and pho, a Vietnamese stew dish with noodles, rice, herbs and meat.
