According to award-winning image consultant, Hartsdale resident, body expert and style architect Kendra Charisse Porter, you can go one of two ways when it comes to your office party.

Option One: The Theme The ugly Christmas sweater: "Putting on an ugly sweater comes off as comedic and jovial and works for both guys and gals," she said. "Everyone likes to blow off some steam and this is a great way to do it." Or, add an element of fun with accessories, like a reindeer-printed scarf or socks or the holiday tie your kids gave you last year. It's also a great conversation starter when you're not sure what to say to the guy from accounting who you hardly know.

Option Two: A Touch of Sparkle Glam it up with metallics and sequins. For the gents, Porter likes silk ties, bow ties and hankerchiefs in rich metallics or jewel-toned colors as they add an air of sophistication. Or try items like bejeweled tie tacks and cuff links. Suspenders and lapel pins are back with a more sleek and modern feel.

For the ladies, of course the little black dress is always appropriate; though this season she is seeing a lot of metallic colors, painted on or interwoven into the actual fabric. "Sequins are always fun and you'll find a variation of sizes and combinations of mix beaded tops, skirts and dresses" Porter said. Her favorite is beaded lace. Just make sure your hem line isn't too short.
