Ardsley WWII Veteran John Lombardo Dies at 93

ARDSLEY, N.Y. - John J. Lombardo of Ardsley died Feb. 22 at the age of 93.

Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of Paul and Rosa Lombardo. From 1941 to 1945, Lombardo served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Rose Fazzolare in Brooklyn and Dec. 9 1945 and they moved to Ardlsey 54 years ago.

Lombardo was a member of the Ardsley American Legion Post 458, James Daly Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 200 in Hastings-on-Hudson and Elks Lodge 2690 in White Plains, where he was named Elk of the Year in 1990. Along with his wife, Lombardo was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Ardsley.

He is survived by his wife Rose, his daughters Susan Lombardo and Andrea (John) Consiglio, his son Paul (Joan) Lombardo and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home in Dobbs Ferry. The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Ardsley. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
