Ryan, a 27-year-old chef at X20 in Yonkers, is competing in the 11th season of “Hell's Kitchen” on Fox for a job as head chef at the Gordon Ramsay Pub and Grill at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
In last week's episode, Ryan ran in a 3K race against Mary, a member of the women's team, before helping to prepare lunch for the race participants. Ryan was confident he could win the race.
“I'm all legs,” he said during the show. “I'm pretty sure I could run this backward and beat Mary.”
Ryan's victory was short-lived though as the men's team lost the overall challenge to the women's team. Ryan and his teammates were forced to cleanup the 3K race and prepare the kitchens for dinner service.
“There's no silver lining to all of this,” Ryan said. “We started off great and then it crashed.”
Ryan's temper got the better of him when he began arguing with the executive chef minutes before dinner service and then while cooking the lamb.
“I'm doing 50,000 things right now and Dan's failing at the one task that he has,” Michael Langdon said.
The men's team fought back and went on to win the dinner service challenge, keeping it safe from elimination.
Tuesday's episode will feature the chefs competing to identify proteins and then preparing breakfast for emergency medical workers.
“While some contestants rise to the challenge, others scramble to complete the simplest dishes, and Chef Ramsay grills the losing team during an emotional elimination round,” FOX said in its schedule.
