Members in the area left their DoorKnob Dinners on front doors between 9 a.m. and noon for pickup from Family-to-Family neighborhood coordinators. The project worked with the Hastings food pantry at the James Harmon Community Center.
"Whole families joined us at the community center's food pantry to sort the dinners," said organizer Adrian Forman. "We had toddlers carrying loaves of bread and elementary school kids making a mountain with the broccoli. One mother commented afterward that the experience started a whole new conversation at dinner that night with her husband and children about how to help those in our community."
DoorKnob continues the monthly program in May with the recipe for the next meal and shopping going on the website.
