ELMSFORD, N.Y. -- With October marking Bullying Awareness Month, Random Farms Kids' Theater in Elmsford is set for its sixth season of its anti-bullying musical "The New Kid."
The musical, which is performed entirely by kids, features a cast from kids across Westchester County, according to a press release. "The New Kid" is a musical about "students at a middle school dealing with peer pressure, hazing, bullying and the importance of staying true to oneself," according to the release.
The show travels to Westchester schools and includes a Q&A with students, teachers and the cast after the performance, according to the release.
"The goal of this program is to create an awareness about the dangers of bullying in a way that's accessible to elementary and middle school students," said Anya Wallach, the show's producer, in the release. "Having kids perform for kids is tremendously advantageous because the audience can connect to the performers."
The musical's themes are aimed at helping younger students identify and address issues that will give them the strength later in life to deal with personal differences, according to the release.
"The key is to start educating kids before they get to high school, so they arrive armed with the tools to deal with bullying in any form," Wallach said in the release.
Teachers, parents and school representatives interested in booking the show at their school are asked to contact the theater at 212-956-2566 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
