Emanuel Massarella, 91, Hartsdale Warrant Officer

HARTSDALE, N.Y. – Emanuel Massarella of Hartsdale died May 8. He was 91. 

The son of Thomas and Mary Vitale Massarella, he was born June 30, 1920 in New York City. Massarella served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. 

He was the superintendent of the Kingsbridge Armory in Bronx, N.Y., and retired as chief warrant officer. Massarella was an active member of the Scarsdale Elks, serving as its secretary until his death. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for many years. 

He was predeceased by his wife, Veronica. He is survived by three daughters, Joan (Nicholas) Lepore, Karen (Ferdinando) Valenti and Gail (Gerald) DeFeo; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at McMahon Lyon and Hartnett Funeral Home in White Plains. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Church. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Putnam Valley, N.Y.
