Former Elmsford Salesperson, Burke Dies at 96

ELMSFORD, N.Y. – Former Elmsford resident, Anna Marie Johnson Burke died on Oct. 22 in Danbury, Conn. She was 96 years old.

Burke was born on Sep. 12, 1915 to Joseph and Anna Johnson and went on to graduate from Washington Irving High School. In 1939, she married Harold Burke.

She worked as a salesperson at Genung's department store in White Plains and as a homemaker. An active member of Our Lady Mt. Carmel Church in Elmsford for over 75 years, Burke enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble.

She is survived by her daughters Barbara Blundell with husband Richard, Gail Yocis with husband Ken and Dr. Elaine Burke and her husband Jay Clark, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Burke was predeceased by her husband Harold in 2000, after 61 years of marriage.
