Greenburgh Native Guy Mitchell Named NYC Criminal Court Judge

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Guy Mitchell, a Greenburgh native who had served as an assistant state attorney general in charge of the Harlem-Bronx Regional Office, has been appointed as a New York City criminal court judge, according to a report by amsterdamnnews.com.

Mitchell began his career as an assistant district attorney in Bronx County, and he prosecuted several high profile homicides and violent felony offenses, the report said. 

He served in the trial division-violent crime bureau and in the Bias Crime Unit and he also worked as the complaint room and homicide-felony duty supervisor, the report said.

Mitchell is the son of Greenburgh community activist Napoleon Mitchell, who serves on the Greenburgh Police Advisory Board.

Mitchell earned his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Albany and his J.D. from Ohio Northern University.
