HARTSDALE, N.Y. - Woodlands Community Temple in Greenburgh was honored by Hope’s Door earlier this month at its annual fundraiser, which benefits the Pleasantville-based organization that helps victims of domestic abuse.

Woodlands Community Temple is a Reform Jewish congregation that has a strong focus on domestic abuse, as well as other independent initiatives.

Hope’s Door, which helps victims of domestic abuse, held its annual gala “An Evening of Hope” at Abigail Kirsch at Tappan Hill Mansion in Tarrytown, which more than 200 people attended.

“Domestic violence does not discriminate. Regardless of socioeconomic class, race, gender and age, it is a serious issue today – even in Westchester,” said CarlLa Horton, Executive Director of Hope’s Door in a press release. “With such striking statistics, we as a community find ourselves asking: What can we do to help those who have been abused? It starts with offering programs to victims and creating preventative services for our youth. Every human being deserves to feel safe in their home and in their relationship.
