Greenburgh Town Hall Commemorates Human Rights Day

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- New Rochelle resident Dr. Moshe Avital, a leading Holocaust author and scholar, shared his personal experience as an Auschwitz survivor and the meaning of the Holocaust in modern Western society on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at the countywide Westchester International Human Rights Day Commemoration at Greenburgh Town Hall.

Joan Grangenois Thomas, president of the Port Chester/Rye Branch of the NAACP, was a special guest speaker at the commemoration, which was sponsored by the Westchester County Human Rights Commission, Town of Greenburgh, Yonkers Human Rights Commission and the Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center.

Avital is a member of the Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center Speakers’ Bureau. Thomas also serves as a Board Member of the Rye, Rye Brook & Port Chester League of Women Voters.
