The New York Times recently profiled Fitzpatrick, who is now working for billionaire George Soros as chief investment officer for Soros Fund Management, managing $26 billion of Soros' personal and family wealth.

Growing up in Irvington, a neighbor got her interested in Wall Street and she knew she had found her career path. She attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

When she was first on the American Stock Exchange trading floor, traders bet on how long she would last, Fitzpatrick told the Times. She later led O'Connor and Associates, a Chicago firm, becoming one of Wall Street's most powerful women, according to the Times.

The Times profile detailed the challenges Fitzpatrick will face in overseeing Soros' finances. Fitzpatrick is a registered Republican, while Soros funds many Democratic causes. Soros has been through eight chief investment officers since 2000, according to the Times.
