Jlcw To Honor Susan Fox, Janice Starr at Big Night Out Celebration

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- The Junior League of Central Westchester (JLCW) will honor Susan Fox and Janice Starr at its 70th anniversary celebration, Big Night Out: 70 BIG Years, on Saturday, April 29, at Sunningdale Country Club in Scarsdale.

The evening’s festivities will include a cocktail hour, dinner, music, dancing and an extensive silent auction.

Fox, president and CEO of White Plains Hospital, will be recognized for her contributions to the Westchester community and because of the example she sets as a woman leading a major nonprofit in Central Westchester.

Fox's appointment as one of the first women to lead an acute care hospital speaks to the JLCW’s mission of developing the potential of women. A longtime Westchester resident, Fox has a remarkable career, which includes early roots as a pediatric intensive care nurse followed by more than 25 years of health management administration, according to a release from JLCW.

Her efforts to extend access to healthcare into the community resonate with the League’s focus on improving the lives of neighbors in need.

Starr, JLCW president 1998-1999 and prominent Scarsdale citizen, will be recognized for her dedication to realizing the mission of the JLCW and for her leadership in the community.

Her current roles include co-president of the Fox Meadow Neighborhood Association, first vice president of the League of Women Voters, an executive board member of Steve’s Camp at Horizon Farms, and a board member of Scarsdale-Edgemont Family Counseling Service.

As one of the JLCW’s primary fundraisers, Big Night Out will provide essential financial support for the JLCW’s educational and charitable projects.

Support of this event enables the JLCW to support programs that promote health, literacy and good nutrition to Head Start children; provide thousands of diapers each month to needy families; ensure that low-income mothers have basic necessities for their newborns and teach leadership skills to teens at risk, the release said

“The JLCW’s 70th anniversary year has been a celebration of community," said Meridith Alin, president of the Junior League of Central Westchester. "White Plains Hospital president and CEO Susan Fox and past JLCW President Janice Starr exemplify the impact that women can make in their communities.”

Tickets and event packages will be available in the coming weeks.
