Last week, a GoFundMe page was started in the memory of Gabrielle White, with all proceeds and donations going to the Hord’s Family Foundation, which “helps others realize their dreams.”

Gabrielle was allegedly killed by her father, Neil White - who is facing a second-degree murder charge - last week.

“The family wants to celebrate the dreams of young people who will have an opportunity that Gabrielle will not have to pursue higher education and make a difference in the world,” the page reads.

“Our beautiful, smart, vivacious and sunshiny Gabrielle gained her angel wings. Her sudden transition to Heaven leaves her family, friends, school and community with an immeasurable amount of grief and an overwhelming sense of sadness and pain.”

At approximately 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6,  police in New Rochelle received an emergency call from 3 Arbor Glen when Gabrielle’s babysitter went to the home to check on the girl following an uneasy text message exchange with her father, Neil White, Police Capt. Robert Gazzola said on Wednesday. Upon arrival at the scene, she found White bleeding with wounds to his wrists and Gabrielle in her bed, prompting her to call the police.

Paramedics said that Gabrielle was unresponsive, laying in bed when they arrived. White was taken to Montefiore Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. White was later taken into custody and was arraigned in New Rochelle City Court on Wednesday on a charge of second-degree murder.

New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson mourned the loss of the Ward Elementary School second grader in a statement made at the Police Department on Wednesday following her death.

“Our entire community mourns this tragic event and is united in offering thoughts and prayers to Gabrielle’s mother and to all who knew and loved Gabrielle. The School District has already been working to provide information, counseling, and support to youngsters, and the City will support these efforts in any appropriate way. I will add only, on a personal note, that for all friends of the family, this is devastating news that we will long struggle to comprehend.”
