For Valentine’s Day -- and beyond -- you can spread love while saving a cat.
PetSmart Charities, along with Posh Pets Rescue, is holding a National Adoption Weekend at PetSmart in Greenburgh from Friday, Feb. 17 through Sunday, Feb. 19 in a Valentine’s Day-themed event.
PetSmart is located at Crossroads Shopping Center, 369 Tarrytown Road (Route 119). The hours of this special event run from noon to 4 p.m. all three days.
Many of Posh Pet Rescue’s cats are rescued from being euthanized at high-kill shelters in New York City along with other life-threatening circumstances by the organization’s volunteers.
During last year’s National Adoption Weekend, more than 100,000 animals were adopted across North America.
“For this year’s National Adoption Weekend we hope to spread the love on Valentine’s Day by pairing people with their perfect cat,” said Posh Pets Rescue Cat Director Vanessa Vaccaro. “By adopting a cat you’re actually saving multiple lives. Not only are you saving the life of a rescued animal, but you’re opening up space so the organization can take in more cats in need of help, so they have a shot at finding a forever home.”
The cats have been fully vetted by the organization’s volunteers who bring the cats to veterinary, spay and neuter appointments, in order to ensure they are healthy before adoption.
During the weekend event, a number of rescued cats of all ages will be up for adoption, those interested in finding their Valentine will have to fill out an application to see if they qualify to take them home. Potential adopters can be pre-screened by filling out an online application at http://poshpetsrescue.org/applications/ .
Posh Pets Rescue is a 503c3 charity organization run by all volunteers dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, fostering and finding homes for cats of all shapes and sizes.
