Morris Silverman, 97, Irvington WWII Veteran

IRVINGTON, N.Y. – Morris Silverman, 97, of Irvington died Monday, April 9.

Silverman was the owner of Mory’s Army Navy store in Tarrytown for more than 30 years.

He was born Feb. 18, 1915, in Hearne, Texas. A U.S. Army veteran, Silverman served in the 2nd Armored Division during World War II. He was also the co-owner of Levine's Army Navy in Port Chester. He was married to Bess Silverman for more than 67 years.

He is survived by a son, Andy; a daughter, Janie; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Temple Beth Abraham in Tarrytown

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Hospice at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow.
