Ruth Melito, 88, Member of Irvington Seniors

IRVINGTON, N.Y. – Ruth B. Melito, of Irvington, died April 30, 2012. She was 88. 

Born in White Plains, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Agnes Farley. Melito worked for the City of White Plains, Kenton Corp. and St. Agnes Hospital. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and dancing. 

Melito was a member of Immaculate Conception rosary and altar society, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Irvington Seniors, St. Pius Widows and Widowers Club and the Irvington Advisory Board.  

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Arthur) Stout; a granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. Melito was predeceased by her husband, Michael B.; a son, Michael; two sisters, Jean Hamilton and Mary Desmore; and a brother, Sonny Fritze. 

Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home in Dobbs Ferry. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Irvington. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Irvington Volunteer Ambulance Corps. or Immaculate Conception Church.
