Scarsdale Golf Club Reception for Late James Rocco

HARTSDALE, N.Y. - A reception honoring the late James V. Rocco, a former sports director, caddy master and employee of Scarsdale Golf Club for 70 years, will be held this Saturday.

Mr. Rocco, of Briarcliff Manor and previously of White Plains, died Nov. 2 at the age of 97.

He was born on Feb. 15, 1914 to the late Frank and Angelina Rocco. He married the late Edith Sullo on Jun. 9, 1940 at Assumption Church.

Mr. Rocco worked as caddy master and sports director at the golf club for 70 years before retiring in 2001.

He is survived by his son Anthony Rocco and his wife Anna of Briarcliff Manor, along with three grandsons and a great-grandson. He was predeceased by his son James Rocco and four siblings.

Visitings hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home in White Plains. A funeral mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Mt. Carmel Church, followed by the reception at the Scarsdale Golf Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to be made to Phelps Hospice, 701 North Broadway, Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591.
