Sonny Mancuso, 91, Ex-Greenburgh Republican Chair

HARTSDALE, N.Y. – Sonny Mancuso, 91, of Hartsdale died Wednesday, April 11, in Dobbs Ferry.

A catering business owner, Mancuso was a former chair of the Greenburgh Republican Party.

He was born Sep. 9, 1920, in the Bronx to Joseph and Philomena Mancuso. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and, on Sep. 6, 1944, married Mary "Mae" Murray in Verplanck.

Sonny Mancuso was the owner of the Holiday Inn catering restaurant in Scarsdale. He was a longtime and active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Elmsford, and a member of the Elmsford Italian American Club, Scarsdale Elks Club and the American Legion. He also volunteered at the Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne.

Mancuso is survived by his wife, Mae; a daughter, Nancy (Michael) Bowerman; two sons, Robert (Helene) Mancuso and John (Tricia) Mancuso; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 13, at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home chapel in Elmsford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, followed by burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.
