But all of Westchester County is now aware of Healy's real passion for his adopted village after he was named Westchester County's 2013 Volunteer of the Year in March by County Executive Rob Astorino.
Healy, who moved to the village eight years ago after living in Peekskill, graduated Iona Prep High School and Fordham University before taking on his village recreation job. H is a volunteer firefighter with the Hastings Fire Department and works with seniors at his church and the local American Legion, where he helped raise funding for the local post last year.
"I like volunteering in my community because it allows me to give back to a place that I consider my hometown, even though I have only lived here for the past eight years," Healy said. "I live and work here and volunteering in the different areas that I do [church, American Legion, seniors, Fire Dept.] allows me to really interact with all different members of the community."
